Abu al-Hassan Ali ibn Muhammad ash-Shaybani best known as Ali Izz al-Din Ibn al-Athir al-Jazari (1233-1160) was an Arab or Kurdish historian and biographer who was from the Ibn Athir family and wrote in Arabic.

He was born in Jazirat Ibn Umar of the Abbasid Caliphate according to the 1911 Edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica. In modern-day Turkey the city is located.
