The most commonly used variant of Arabic used today in Arabic-speaking countries is Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). In nearly all media outlets, from TV to movies to newspapers to radio broadcasts, MSA is used. Most books are written in MSA and, in debates and speeches, politicians speak in MSA. MSA is the Arabic used in Arabic-speaking countries in daily life. Classical (or Quranic) Arabic is very similar to Modern Standard Arabic. Many Arabs, in fact, use them interchangeably. The two forms of Arabic are, overall, very similar. Fresh, modern words and phrases that did not exist back when the Quran was written are used in Modern Standard Arabic. In Quranic Arabic, MSA also pronounces terms, community words, and elicits a different meaning between words.
