Description
Mafatih al-Jinan is Shaykh Abbas Qummis most popular handbook of Islamic devotional observances and prayer texts, which draws its material from well-known, credible sources. The Mafatih al-Jinan follows a long tradition developed by the Misbah al-Mutahajjid of Shaykh Tusi (d. 460/1067) as a manual of devotional literature and followed up in the works of Sayyid Ibn Tawus (d. 664/1265), Kafami (d. 905/1499) and others. Most of the Mafatih material is derived from these earlier works. The Mafatih has enjoyed unquestioned popularity among Farsi-speaking Muslims since its publication, and its Arabic and Urdu versions are commonly used by devotees in the Arab world and the Indian subcontinent.
